WEST Wratting under 12s received one of the highest accolades in the Cambs Colts League at this month's league presentation evening, held at Cambridge Corn Exchange.
Wratts under 12s were named the league’s annual team of the year, beating off competition from more than 300 other teams to win it.
Their very good disciplinary record, on and off the pitch, as well as winning their division with 178 goals in 20 matches helped them win the award.
Wratts Youth club chairman and under 12s manager Kevin Ager said: “I am delighted and chuffed for these players and this club.
“Words cannot explain the proud feeling we have to receive this high accolade above the other 309 teams from under 11s to under 17s in the Cambridge & District Colts League.
“Of course we like to believe we project everything we do at the club well and voluntarily apply all the things you should as a club.
“It’s ironic that the previous evening I was delivering a speech at our club’s annual presentation on how proud I was at the high level of conduct, respect, family values we had maintained at the club and the philosophy we have that in youth sports you should learn to play the game first and then win if you can
“This totally endorses those statements.”
