ADAMS HARRISON MIDWEEK LEAGUE ROUND-UP
HAVERHILL’S Adam Dellar hit an unbelievable 116 as he set up an Adams Harrison Midweek Cup quarter final showdown with Brockley’s big hitting Joe Reed.

Dellar smashed his three-figure score last week as Haverhill (194-6) beat Division Two side Great Yeldham by 56 runs, with Paul Brazier replying with 32 for Yeldham.

Brockley’s Reed proved to be Helions Bumpstead’s downfall, scoring 86 to guide his side past the Essex villagers.

Abington will travel to Long Melford in the next round after seeing off Ashdon by nine wickets, thanks to Simon Bishop (63no), Russell Knight (41no) and Stuart Duquemin (3-29).

Balsham fell at the hands of Melford, by nine wickets.

Simon Potger (58no) and Marc Pearson (37no) guided Sawston to a comfortable ten-wicket success over Abington II to set up a quarter final match with Horseheath, who won at Highpoint.

J Clayden scored 64no in Highpoint’s innings but David Brown (51no) and Rob Ketteridge (35no) steered Horseheath to a nine-wicket victory.

Alex Meddle scored 38 with the bat and then took 4-22 with the ball as Weston Colville eased past Wratting Lions and will face Babraham in the last eight.

Hundon beat Gestingthorpe by just three runs in Division 3A to move clear at the top.

ADAMS HARRISON MIDWEEK CUP SECOND ROUND

Castle Manor lost to Babraham by four wickets

CASTLE Manor nearly caused an upset at Babraham in the second round of the midweek cup.

A Edwards and Martyn Buckner guided Manor to 32 by the time they’d both fallen and another wicket fell shortly after as Morgan returned impressive figures of 3-19.

But Rob Dovaston and Stephen Lanceman repaired the damage, putting on 53 before Dovaston (27) was bowled by Palmer (1-15).

Lanceman (38no) was joined by debutant Jason Ketteridge (12no) but Babraham used their experienced bowlers to tighten things up and Manor ended on 119-4.

Babraham’s reply raced to 40 in four overs before Tom McNulty (15) and John Woodgate (29), who survived a massive lbw appeal in the first over, were both dismissed in successive overs by great catches from Fox and Savage respectively.

Babraham looked shell-shocked and some great bowling from D Webb and B Piper (1-22) slowed the run rate right up to restrict Babraham to 66-3 from ten overs.

Webb (3-37) and N Mortimer (2-2) picked up wickets to leave the match finely poised.

C Thompson then caught out Archer but Ennew (18no) and Palmer (21no) held their nerve to strike the winning runs in the final over.
