Four golds for Claire in finals

THIRTY young swimmers from West Suffolk Swimming Club competed at the Suffolk County Development Championships at Crown Pools, Ipswich.
The junior girls started in fine form as 11-year-old Claire Robinson swam a fantastic race to take gold in the 200m butterfly with a time of 3:04.32 and another gold in the 200m freestyle (2:46.04).

Claire’s medal haul continued, bringing her tota
l to four golds and one bronze.

Ten-year-old Bethany Mottram won two gold medals in the breaststroke events (200m in 3:55.78 and 100m in 1:51.57).

Hannah Sparrow won gold in the 100m individual medley with a time of 1:37.81, followed by two silvers and one bronze in the backstroke and breaststroke events.

Casey Maggs won a bronze medal in 200m individual medley and Chloe Riches, nine, secured silver and two bronze medals in butterfly, backstroke and freestyle races.

Not to be out done by the girls, ten-year-old Oliver Beresford won a gold medal for his 50m breastroke with a time of 53.95 seconds.

Edward Briars, 11, knocked 17 seconds from his entry time to win a gold medal in 200m breastroke with a time of 3:27.30.

His 50m breastroke time resulted in a further silver medal.

Patrick Briars and Robert Wyatt won four bronze and two bronze medals in the 13-year-old boys’ events and the senior boys, Declan Gosling and Jamie Wyatt, also did well to win a handful of medals.
