Haverhill runners jog on

Haverhill runners put in some strong performances at the Folksworth 15 mile road-race.
Tim Ellis finished ninth in one hour 32 minutes, earning him first place in the M40 age category.

The first lady to cross the line was Sian Barker in an impressive two hours fours minutes, followed by Jayne Nunn in two hours 13 minutes, Gordon Mil
lar in teo hous 24 minutes and Wendy Aldhouse in two hours 38 minutes.

The Benfleet 15 mile race was also last weekend, and was described as '90 per cent off-road, mud, swamps and more mud, but fantastic fun'.

Leading the way was Ian Pammenter, finishing in one hour 58 minutes.

Also braving the conditions were Mandy Bunn in two hours 35 minutes, Mandy Nickerson two hours 51 minutes and Carl Vella in the same time.

Sunday also saw the latest race in the Suffolk cross-country league, held at Nowton Park.

John Oakes was first in the MV50 age category in a time of 33 minutes, and finished ninth overall.

Also running for the team were Sirkka Love in 45 minutes, Terry Braverman in 46 minutes and John Lister in 48 minutes.

After four races the team has moved up to sixth place in the league with 2,730 points, while St Edmunds Pacers remain in the lead with 4,013 points with only one fixture remaining.
