CCA SENIOR LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Doddington 167-8 lost to Horseheath 170-4 by six wickets

HORSEHEATH continued their Senior One campaign with a well-deserved victory over league new boys Doddington.

After losing the toss, Horseheath were told to field.

Rob Ketteridge and Ga
ry Ellis opened the bowling and move the ball about in the right places as they do week in week out, and it was Rob Ketteridge to pick up the first wicket of the day as he had Torr caught behind by Baldwin in his second over, before picking up his second in the next over.

Rob Ketteridge finished with excellent figures of 12-9-12-3 and Doddington could only manage 167, Towers and Giles picking up two wickets each.

Opener A Ketteridge was cashing in on the quick outfield with some fantastic shots, and he was joined at the crease by his eldest son Jay, back from a year out after a back operation, who showed that he hasn't lost his touch and made a superb 37 but was unlucky to be given out to a very dubious lbw decision.

A Ketteridge passed 50 and with Ellis hitting a typical 33 before being caught it was A Ketteridge (64no) and Rob Ketteridge (8no) to pass the Doddington total with six wickets and almost ten overs to spare.

CCA JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 1B

Thurlow 189-8 beat Barley 186-5 by three runs

THURLOW, batting first, got off to slow start and lost their first wicket in the sixth over with just 16 on the board.

B Hurrell and M Buckner started the fight back with some big hitting and after 12 overs the score had moved to 48 before Buckner (16) was caught out on the boundary off the bowling of Davies.

Thurlow then had a nightmare spell losing a further three wickets and found themselves 79-5 after 24 overs.

Piper and Basham were determined to put up some fight and battled themselves into the game.

They managed to get the score over 100 before Piper (33) became Davies's fourth victim.

Basham took over the scoring roll with Hulyer supporting and the score started to climb even more, Basham eventually fell in the last over having made 55 and the innings closed on 189

Barley's reply started in a flash, they raced to 31 from 7 overs but the wicket of Allen brought the run rate back under control.

Having made 115 at the 30 over mark but Hulyer caught to take the key wicket of A Hunt (54).

Barley fought back and needed 11 off the last over, they only managed seven and Thurlow won by three runs as a result.
