HUNDON manager Brian Pilgrim was feeling slightly better about his young side's prospects for the coming season after witnessing them lose 1-0 at last season's Suffolk Junior Cup finalists Cockfield.
Although Pilgrim, 43, had to play himself because of a lack of numbers, his team featured a number of teenagers including 19-year-olds Jamie Mayes and Luke Kingston and 16-year-old striker Callum Harrison.

Other teenagers also played while captain Scott Lowen could only make the second half because of work commitments.

But despite the defeat, Pilgrim said: “We had a really young team and in the second half I brought on Scott Lowen and we did alright.

“We should have beaten them, but with the team we had out we did really, really well.”

Hundon, who have seen a number of players quit the club in recent weeks, took on Haverhill Rovers at Hamlet Croft last night in the Keith Willis Memorial Cup.
