IN the Treadfirst Halstead League it has been a rollercoaster of a week for Kedington, but one which has ultimately seen their objective achieved of ensuring that the forthcoming game against Glemsford Cock is almost certainly the league title decider.
Here is a summary of the three matches played last week.

Rayne 2

Kedington 1

Having beaten Rayne to win the Guy Orbell Trophy on the Friday evening, Rayne were given an early chance to gain some revenge.

Despite another Richard Elding
strike and almost constant second half pressure, the home side put a massive dent in Kedington's title ambitions with a 2-1 win.

Pebmarsh 1

Kedington 2

ON Thursday evening, a much-depleted Kedington side went to second-placed Pebmarsh and with five first team players missing went a goal down midway through the first half, a blow which was compounded almost immediately with the loss of in-form striker Richard Elding who had to hobble off injured.

But Lee Phillips fired into the far corner of the net to level things before the break.

Pebmarsh dominated possession in the second half but, as has so often been the case recently, Kedington would not be beaten and Tom Rogers chipped in the winner from just inside the penalty box with 15 minutes left.

Venue 2

Kedington 3

Kedington visited Braintree-based Venue on Saturday and, although the scoreline read differently, enjoyed a comfortable victory.

Goals from Tom Rogers, Martyn Farrant and a Stuart Watson diving header gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead.

A late consolation and a goal with the last kick of the game made the result look a little closer, but an injury-riddled side got the required three points.
