A NUMBER of famous faces from Haverhill Rovers' past returned to Hamlet Croft on Saturday for the launch of the club's new history book.
Brian Holmes, Jim Thomson and Len Basham attended the launch of the book held on the same day as Rovers’ friendly with Halstead, more than 120 years after the first reported Rovers match, against Halstead.

Local historian Roy Brazier has spent months writing the 144-page book that charts the club from its very roots at Haverhill Cricket Club right through to the Aldershot Town FA Cup match and a return to the Ridgeons League Premier Division.

Terry McGerty, Rovers’ club president, said: “I think the outcome of the book is great, there’s eight pages of colour pictures and several black and white pictures as well.”

The front cover shows Dave Hedley celebrating the 1991 East Anglian Cup win and once inside the book, pictures show football in the town right back into the 19th century.

The book is available through Haverhill Rovers and from Printwise reception for a reduced price of £6.
