GOAL-SCORING hero Lee Sharp admitted it was a bittersweet night for him, after scoring Haverhill Rovers Reserves' winner in the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup final and then being carried off with a serious knee injury.
Sharp may have suffered cruciate ligament damage as he swivelled to bag the only goal of the game and complete a memorable treble for the Reserves.

Friday's triumph added to the Ridgeons Reserve League South Division and Ridgeons Reserve League Play-Off titles, with Sharp, the scorer of many goals this season, grabbing the most important of them.

"I got an elbow across the throat after about two minutes, then when Jenko (Paul Jenkin) played it through for the goal I felt my knee pop and I thought 'I just have to get something on it'.

"Luckily it went in the bottom corner, but I'm sore now."

And manager Peter Betts was ecstatic after nervously watching his side miss great chances to put the game to bed at the end but hold on for their third trophy.

He said: "I'm just delighted. After extra time on Tuesday night, to come through that is excellent.

"I thought we were solid and Tom (Edwards) didn't really have a save to make so it was a pity we couldn't score the second but I'm so delighted.

"With two cup finals close together, realistically if you win one you are happy but everyone has worked hard and we've got we deserved."
