HAVERHILL will be able to dream of an unlikely third consecutive promotion if they win at second-placed Mistley, according to teenage skipper Adam Dellar.
Three wins in a row has seen new life breathed into Haverhill's season and they now face eight days of cricket that could end with them engaging in a promotion run-in.

But there is a large average points gap to overcome and it's unlikely Haverhill
will do that any other way than by securing wins against the runaway top two

"We've got Mistley next week who are second and Exning who are top the week after so they are the two big ones," said Dellar. "If we can get a result against one or both of them then we'll be able to look at second.

"We were close and could have beaten Exning but they had us 50-odd for five.

"If we get in among Mistley, get in their faces, have a quick over rate, put the pressure on the batting team and take a few early wickets – something we've struggled with – then we can beat them.

"If we beat them we are definitely in contention and won't be many behind them.

"We are going for second and this will show how good we are."

A gap has opened up between Exning and Mistley, in first and second on 18.00 average points, and Haverhill in third, on 14.20 average points, but Dellar is aiming to bridge that gap.

"We are definitely going in as the underdogs and the league won't expect us to take anything from the game," said Dellar.

Sam Powell, who hit 124no on his last appearance, and former captain Rob Sullivan will return to the side in place of Greg Street and Josh Meekings.
