MARSHALL HATCHICK TWO COUNTIES LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
East Bergholt beat Haverhill by 129 runs

Haverhill’s winning run came to an abrupt end at Bergholt on Saturday. The home team scoring a massive 361-4 and winning by 129 runs.

When Bergholt’s skipper won the toss and chose to bat it was all down
hill from there as the openers put on 182 for the first wicket.

The breakthrough finally coming when Scott Webb had Barnett (87) caught and bowled. When the other opened Frame (153) was caught by Simon Youngs on the boundary off Stu Ketteridge the score was 300-2 with eight overs to go.

Ketteridge claimed two more wickets Jones (67) and Hayward (13). The final score was 361-4 a huge total and the visitors were just happy to get off the field.

Stu Ketteridge had figures of 9-0-69-3 and Youngs only went for five in each of his 11 overs.

Haverhill lost Webb (15) and then Neil Winter (20) and then Sam Powell for a duck as they slumped to 53-3.

Captain Adam Dellar looked in good touch and was starting to find the boundary on a regular basis.

Dan Poole went for 14 and Dave Godwin for 5. The skipper was launching a one- man crusade against Bergholt but was finally out for a season’s best 93, any chance of victory was gone.

Dan Wilkins (35) and Simon Youngs (24) yet again put on a 50 partnership but in the end Haverhill were all out for 232.

Haverhill remain mid table and captain Adam Dellar although happy with his own innings must see if changes are needed for next week against top of the table Maldon.

Another bowler may come in for a batsman.
