West Suffolk Swimming Club (WSSC) lost the second round of the Suffolk Winter League on Saturday by a single point.
After their first round win, WSSC hosted the second event at the Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre and showed some great team spirit with some exceptional performances.

They achieved 22 personal best times in just 32 individual events, clocking up 13
first place finished and 11 second placed finishes.

Haverhill's Danny Profitt got a first place for the team, along with Jennifer and Chris Titterington, Sean Collier, Bethan Bottomley, Gregory Buckle, Victoria Sparrow and Ashley Trent.

Chris Titterington rounded off the individual events with a storming win in the men's 100 metre freestyle in a new best time of 57 seconds.

Swimmers, coaches and parents waited nervously for the final scores, only to find that West Suffolk had been beaten by just one point by Lowestoft, with 199 points.

Sudbury were third with 166, Halstead fourth with 160 and Beccles were last with 131.

Head Coach Dan Pilbrow was extremely pleased with the swimmers performances, coming as they did in the middle of a block of hard training.

WSSC swimmers will now head back to the pool for more intensive training in preparation for the County Championships, commencing with the 800 metre and 1,500 metre events in the Olympic pool at Norwich in February, followed by the short course races at Ipswich taking place over three weekends in March.
