MATCH REPORTS
UNDER 15S
Haverhill 12 Witham 10
HAVERHILL broke the midfield deadlock on 20 minutes when Mathew Nash cleaned up at full-back, finishing with Henry Browne diving in the corner to score.
Dylan Naude was at every ruck that was formed having super-human strength to hold off three players on one occasion to allow the half-back pairing use the ball as best they could in the conditions.
In the second half Haverhill continued to give as good as they got and were rewarded with yet another try in the corner, this time Gareth Lester utilising his speed to finish off a text book move from the forwards to the backs making the score 10-0.
Haverhill could have gone even further ahead as George Foley dived over to score only to have deemed to have knocked forward by ref Peter Lester.
Witham then moved up the park and five missed tackles later were only three points behind at 10-7.
Then three missed tackles later they took a 12-10 lead, going onto to win the match.
UNDER 12S
Mistley 27 Haverhill 19
AN away match for the under 12s saw Haverhill play some good attacking rugby with ball in hand, which saw them take a two tries to one lead into the second half.
Dominic Talbot's brace before the break was great reward for some stout defending by Haverhill's pack which was under strength due to injuries.
After the break the weather played against Haverhill's passing game and as the game wore on Mistley's bigger forwards began to pick up loose ball and drive their way over Haverhill's try line.
Justin Hall's additional try was scant reward for a great team effort for Haverhill's depleted squad.
