Bury St Edmunds continue to be the early pacesetters in this season’s Gibbs Denley East Anglian Cricket Premier League after they beat Norwich by 28 runs on Saturday.

Dominic Manthorpe (37) was the top scorer with the bat as Bury finished all out for 117, before Callum Taylor (4-18) ripped through the Norwich middle order to bowl them out for just 89 runs.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, a knock of 113 from Ben Cooper and a five-wicket haul from James Holmes (5-53) helped Woolpit to a general draw at Swardeston.

Burwell also shared the points in a general draw with Great Witchingham, while Sudbury were beaten by three wickets against Cambridge Granta.

In the Dipple and Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance, Diss and Old Buckenham made winning starts to their Premier Division campaigns.

Mark Williamson (4-27) was the pick of the bowlers for Diss as they recovered from being bowled all out for 131 to dismiss Brooke for 94 runs.

While Rob Austin (2-0) impressed in Old Buckenham’s four-wicket win against last season’s champions Fakenham.

Mildenhall lead the way in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division One after beating both Braintree and Mistley over the Bank Holiday weekend.
