Haverhill Borough and Haverhill Rovers drawn together in the FA Vase

Haverhill Borough and Haverhill Rovers will play each other for the very first time after being drawn together in the FA Vase.

Borough will be the home team when the tie takes place on Saturday, September 24.

Borough have failed to qualify for this season’s FA Cup but Rovers have been given a home tie in the Extra Preliminary Round on August 6 against Hertford Town (3pm), from the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division. If the tie is level after 90 minutes it will go to a replay.

The winners of that contest will earn a home game in the Preliminary Round on August 20 against either Brantham Athletic or Hadley.

In the Thurlow Nunn League only part of the First Division schedule has so far been confirmed.

Borough will begin their campaign on August 6 when they go to Diss Town (3pm), followed by another away match, at March Town United on Tuesday, August 9.

In pre-season Rovers have so far defeated Essex & Suffolk Border League side Earl Colne 8-0 and Biggleswade United, of the Spartan South Midlands Premier 4-1, before losing 4-2 on Tuesday at Ryman Premier newcomers AFC Sudbury.

Rovers next friendly is away to St Neots Town on Tuesday.

Borough have won 3-1 at Kershaw Premier side Eaton Socon and 1-0 at Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Walsham-le-Willows and on Saturday play Saffron Walden Town (2pm) on the 3G pitch at Linton.
