Haverhill Borough 4 Leiston Reserves 0

After eight league matches without a win, the last three of those goaless, Haverhill Borough rediscovered the winning feeling with a comprehensive victory.

Faced with having to play a crazy six matches in 13 days, player-manager Martin Westcott drafted himself into the team for a rare start and it was he who teed up Scott Lodge to blast Borough ahead on 20 minutes.

Just six minutes later it was 2-0 after Harry Halls tucked away a penalty awarded for a foul on Craig Pruden.

Only five more minutes had elapsed when Ryan Swallow put the hosts 3-0 to the good by converting a low ball across the box.

It was the attacking midfielder’s tenth league goal of the season (12th overall), putting him one clear of Matt Staines in the team’s league goalscorers’ chart.

The goalscoring was completed in the 88th minute by second-half substitute Rory Bone.

Borough remain 12th after the win, but have the chance to make up more ground on the teams above them when they play Kings Lynn Town Reserves at home tomorrow (Wednesday) night (7.45pm).
