An explosive start ensured Haverhill made it four wins in their last five matches as Wivenhoe went down to their fifth consecutive loss.
The hosts were 2-0 up within the first six minutes, Greg Strong putting them ahead in the fourth minute when he headed Dan Cornwell’s cutback from the byline into the ground and then the net, with goalkeeper Adam Wilding in no man’s land.
Ryan Henshaw doubled the lead two minutes later with a free header from a Jack Higgs corner.
Rovers were three goals to the good in the 43rd minute.
A big kick from goalkeeper Elliott Anderson was flicked on by Henshaw and Cornwell rounded Wilding before netting.
Wivenhoe were the better team after the break but could only muster a single consolation goal in the 55th minute when Reece Keating fired in a 25-yard bullet of a shot that left Anderson with no chance.
Wivenhoe’s misery was compounded three minutes into added time when Keating was sent off for violent conduct.
