THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE
Long Melford 0 Haverhill Rovers 2
Rory Jebb continued his recent good form in front of goal as Rovers came away from Stonylands with all three points.
Teenager Lawrence Healey’s first ever goal for the first team had given the visitors’ a half-time lead before striker Jebb doubled the advantage with his fourth goal in his last six games.
Rovers had skipper Luke Haines sent off with half and hour left and finished the game with nine men after Ben Burton - on loan from St Neots Town - went off with a dislocated shoulder.
The win was only the third recorded by Rovers in their last ten matches and puts them on 41 points, surpassing their points tally for last season and taking them into 12th place with just Saturday’s home match against Kirkley & Pakefield (3pm) left to play.
Long Melford remain in seventh and complete their league programme with home game against Mildenhall Town on Saturday (3pm).
