Ipswich Town column: My alternative Town 2015/16 awards are...

It’s end-of-season awards time, and I can say I saw one of the big lasting moments of our 2015/16 campaign, but missed out on the other.

Yes, I was in the crowd at QPR to see one of the only two occasions we turned out in our Barcelona-style away kit, which makes it into my ‘alternative ITFC awards’, along with THE moment (I sadly didn’t see live) which puts rarely seen international winger Laursen Toure into Ipswich Town folklore.

PR Disaster (sponsored by Simon Clegg): It was a close call between the letter which told lifelong fans ‘move from the family area or we’ll move you’ and the lesser-spotted away kit.

But the Barcelona-style colours get the nod for defeating the object of its purpose: to be worn when the blue-and-white clashes.

An orange shirt was used instead, but not even put on sale!

Priceless Moment (sponsored by Manuel Thetis): Footballers are often credited with little intelligence, and the Guinea winger did little to adjust the stereotype when he lobbed his shirt into the crowd at Doncaster — forgetting there was extra-time to come!

Fools Gold (sponsored by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake): Australian international Tommy Oar failed to make an impact.

Best Moment: Topping the table after a glorious August (W5 D1 L1 in all comps).

Biggest Disappointment: Mick McCarthy’s FA Cup rotation policy up at Old Trafford robbed the travelling fans, in a season where injuries also mugged us of a top six spot and enjoyable football.

Biggest Hope for Next Season: We sign a goalscoring central midfielder after Evans loosens the purse strings.

That’s me signing off.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the Euros.

n Both the new kits for next season look good and the club are offering fans the chance to enter a draw to win the new home shirt by posting a selfie on Twitter or Instagram with the new promotional MINI Clubman car, which will be coming to Bury St Edmunds’ arc Shopping Centre from 11am-2pm on May 28, with #KITMEUP #ITFC
