Haverhill Rovers will be playing in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division next season after Thetford Town’s defeat last night.
Third-bottom Thetford went down 3-0 at FC Clacton to leave them five points behind Rovers with just one match to play.
And with second-bottom Fakenham Town also five points shy of Rovers with one match to play and Whitton United already consigned to the wooden spoon, it is now impossible for Rovers to fill one of the relegation places come the end of the season.
Rovers had gone down to a 4-1 defeat at home to Hadleigh United on Monday.
Goals from David Lorimer, Liam Scopes and Kris Rose put Hadleigh 3-0 up before the break.
Their advantage was stretched to 4-0 on 85 minutes when Daniel Thrower scored, leaving Luke Haines to volley home a consolation for the hosts, who travel to Long Melford tonight (7.45pm) for their final away match of the campaign before closing the season with a home match against Kirkley & Pakefield on Saturday (3pm).
