Rob Wiseman, Darren Brown, and Suffolk FA Student Management Team of Bradley Mingay, Emily Driver, Kelly Scrutton, and James Shiplee were invited to Wembley Stadium to attend the inaugural FA Football Futures Programme Awards Ceremony on Thursday (October 4).

The event included a special tour of the famous football ground in North London.

The Suffolk FA Student Management Team won the Student Management Team and the Youth Council Award category, while Rob Wiseman won the Events category and Darren Brown won the Outstanding Achievement – Supporting Adult category in the national Football Futures Awards.

Sue Wells, Suffolk FA social inclusion officer, said: “I am delighted that the Suffolk FA Football Futures programme has received national recognition and Rob, Darren, Emily, Kelly, Bradley and James’ work has been honoured by those at the highest levels of English football.

“This is a fantastic achievement which recognises the hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved in the programme. I hope it encourages more Young Leaders involved in the programme to continue in their footsteps.”

Darren Brown, Sporting 87, said “The Suffolk FA Football Futures scheme is a major component of Sporting 87’s young leader programme, providing high quality formal courses and a wealth of fantastic opportunities for wider experience.

“Not only have our youngsters benefitted from the management and coordination of the Suffolk FA Football Futures team, but our whole Club has too. Sue and Nathan at Suffolk FA have provided first class guidance, advice and general support, which has helped make our project a fantastic success.

“I’d recommend that clubs with keen and enthusiastic young volunteers get themselves plugged into this excellent scheme.”

The Football Futures programme aims to recruit, retain, develop, reward, and provide a progressive pathway for Young Leaders in order to develop a skilled football workforce.
