West Wratting 3 Ely City Reserves 1
by Simon Youngs at Bull Lane
Luke Youngs played a pivotal role in all three goals for West Wratting as they claimed the points in this relegation six-pointer.
The first half an hour saw neither side make much headway, although it was the home side who had the lions share of possession but without any real goal threat.
This all changed in the final 15 minutes of the half when firstly Luke Youngs smashed the upright from 25 yards and then John Santry hit the bar from the rebound.
The deadlock was broken on 42 minutes when a Youngs corner was superbly headed home by Jarid Robson at the far post.
The second half saw early pressure from Wratting but it was the visitors who equalised ten minutes in.
A poor clearance fell to the striker who buried it past Alex Craig in the home goal.
Still Wratting created chances but leading goalscorer Danny Hill couldn’t find a way past the visiting keeper and the woodwork was struck twice more.
In the 68th minute Youngs’ fine through ball sent Craig Pruden through who finished with a deft ship over the advancing keeper.
The points were finally wrapped up in the 86th minute when Robson went down in the box and Youngs slammed home the penalty.
