Haverhill Golf Club celebrated the success of the club’s young golfers at their annual junior presentation evening earlier this month.
Organised by chair of the junior committee, Doreen Darbey, 59 members and guests were invited, including Haverhill’s vice president Rob Viney and ladies’ captain Val Shipp.
Event sponsors Peter Bowers and Dave Quinney were also in attendance, with Haverhill’s PGA professional Paul Wilby conducting the prize presentation.
There were a number of special awards handed out for achievements throughout the 2016 season, including the Birdie Tree winner, which was given to James Iron.
The T Weller Eclectic Cup was also picked up by Iron, while Ewan Groves took home the Stableford Shield.
Iron continued his good night by being awarded the Committee Trophy, with the Club Player of the Year awarded to Alfie West for his positive attitude and behaviour and etiquette both on and off the golf course.
The Golfer of the Year award was given to the golfer with the most accumulated points for competition entries and for being placed in competitions throughout 2015, and was won by Iron.
After the prize presentation, a raffle organised by Shipp was held and raised £174 for junior funds.
The ladies’ captain congratulated Doreen and the junior committee and thanked everyone for their support, wishing all the junior golfers well for the new season ahead.

Haverhill pair Mary Sail and Jo Stokes lost 5&3 to Jillian Jacobs and Gilly Myram.
Linda Alexander and Darby ran out 7&5 winners against visiting golfers Suzanne Mason and Lucy Lawson.
Sheila Price and Ann Thompson secured the overall win for Haverhill after winning 4&3 against Flempton’s Lizzie Knight and Zinette Vivian.
