Crostyx II 2 Haverhill 3

Haverhill notched their first win of the East Women’s League Division Two SW campaign at rock bottom Crostyx II.

Haverhill notched their first win of the East Women’s League Division Two SW campaign at rock bottom Crostyx II on Saturday (November 17).

The hosts took an early lead and held it until the second half, despite the pressure being piled on as Vicky Haylock missed a chance and Mandy Williamson fired wide.

Judith Bock was the catalyst in midfield, performing well alongside player of the match Laura Humphry.

Bock fired Haverhill level after the break with a reverse stick sweep.

Shortly after Laura Humphry put them ahead when Bock set her up.

Crostyx undeservedly equalised against the run of play.

With ten minutes left on the clock captain Tina Bunch deflected in Elaine Ward’s shot for the win.

Haverhill now have five consecutive home games – starting with Letchworth on Saturday (November 24, 1pm).

Jenny Bradnam will miss that game and so will Haylock, with Cara Ainsworth likely to be promoted from Haverhill II to deputise for the latter.
