Ladies face must win game

Haverhill scored half of this season’s goal haul but still lost as they came out bruised from a ten goal thriller.

Tomorrow (Saturday, November 17) Haverhill face a must win trip to rock bottom Crostyx II (3pm start), with Bunch desperate for her side to get their first points of the campaign in their tenth game.

Last Saturday’s (November 10) valiant 6-4 defeat at Potters Bar was their ninth of the campaign of 22 games, leaving the ladies pointless so far.

Relegation rivals Hertford have pulled clear of the drop zone of six points, leaving Haverhill looking like relegation fodder and above Crostyx II only on goal difference.

Haverhill are on minus 28 (scored eight, conceded 36) while Crostyx II are on minus 47 (scored one, conceded 48).

Captain Tina Bunch said: “We were upbeat after the last defeat as we reminded ourselves we can play and got four different people on the scoresheet which will give us some impetus going into Saturday (November 17).

“We’ve been going for it in terms of attacking play and perhaps not been covering ourselves defensively and we need to find that balance.

“I still think we have an advantage having only had three home games and hosted the top two.

“Although the results haven’t shown it we’ve performed well recently so now we’re chomping at the bit and have the momentum so are in a buoyant mood, despite the run.”

The team will be without Kim Thomas for the game.
