Potters Bar 6 Haverhill 4

Haverhill scored half of this season’s goal haul but still lost as they came out bruised from a ten goal thriller in the East Women’s League Division Two SW on Saturday (November 10).

Jenny Bradnam’s own goal put Potters Bar ahead inside the first minute, put captain Tina Bunch soon hauled the visitors level.

Things went awry for the rest of the first half as the hosts exploited gaps in Haverhill’s midfield to race to a 4-1 half time lead, their fourth goal coming from a penalty strike.

Potters Bar also had a goal ruled out that should not have been, but Haverhill were still optimistic going into the second half.

The hosts went 5-1 up after the interval, but a slick passing move between Judith Bock, Bunch and Mandy Williamson saw the latter presented with a tap in to cut the deficit.

Bock’s individual effort made it 5-3, but the hosts made it 6-3 late on.

Vicky Haylock pulled one back to make it 6-4 but Haverhill’s hopes were dashed when, with them in the ascendancy, Williamson was dismissed.

On Saturday (November 17) Haverhill travel to rock bottom Crostyx II (3pm start) in a must win encounter.
