Runners set new bests
FIVE personal best times tumbled when Haverhill Running Club members took part in the Great Eastern Run half marathon in Peterborough on Sunday.
John Oakes was the fastest of them all, finishing 33rd in a new personal best of one hour 18 minutes and 10 seconds.
Carl Vella had the most personal success as he knocked eight minutes off his best time to finish 590th in 1:40:48 and he has now shaved an incredible 17 minutes off his time this year.
Martin Lawrence (74th, 1:23:21) and Trevor Bunch (79th, 1:23:46) knocked two minutes off their best times, while Mark Causey (179th, 1:29:15) ran his first sub-90 minute half marathon.
Mandy Nickerson (1,052nd, 1:49:32) ran her first sub-110 minute half marathon since injury, as one of six other finishers from Haverhill.
The others were Ian Parmmenter (310th, 1:34:10), Horace Shuriah (659th, 1:42:20), Stephen Reyes (1,039th, 1:49:20), Wendy Aldhouse (1,780th, 2:05:14) and Jayne Nunn (1,897th, 2:08:03).
Also running Sunday were Many Bunn, who finished the Tiptree 10 mile run in a personal best of 1:24:54, Natasha Scott, who completed the Ware 10 mile run in 1:38:19, and Terry Braverman, who ran 1:31:21 at the Ridgeway Run (9.7 miles).
