Members of the public are being asked for their help after an elderly man was robbed in the High Street this morning.

An 81 year old man had his pension money snatched from his hands as he stood outside the Post Office in the High Street at about 9.30am on Monday, June 22.

The suspect is described as being white with dark hair, aged in his 20s and wearing light coloured clothing.

“Someone ran across him and snatched the money and ran off,” a police spokesman said. “He had been standing outside the Post Office.”

About £120 was taken in all.

It is understood the elderly man, while shaken by the event, was unharmed.

Members of the public with information about this crime are being asked to call Haverhill police on 101, quoting crime reference HH-15-1507.
