ONE Haverhill is holding an Apprenticeships Fair at Haverhill Arts Centre on Tuesday, March 10 to celebrate National Apprenticeships Week.
Haverhill Youth Skills Manager Karen Chapple has organised the fair aimed at young people in Haverhill aged 16 – 24 who are currently not in either employment or education.
At the ‘drop in’ event between 11am and 2pm will be local businesses looking for apprenticeships, stalls offering advice and support, and training providers.
Karen, who was appointed by ONE Haverhill to build links between business and education in Haverhill, has to date worked with local businesses to create 80 new apprenticeships at firms in the town as part of ONE Haverhill’s Keep Local Young Talent in Haverhill campaign.
She said: “This will be ofr first Apprenticeships Fair.
“Businesses and young people have been invited to attend to enable them to gain more information on apprenticeships, trainee-ships and work experience.
“The event will be structured similar to a Job Fair where there will be a variety of stalls hosted by different companies and training providers.”
Karen hopes that through the fair more young people will find Apprenticeships or a path to further education and training.
She added: “It is just amazing the difference that taking part in an apprenticeship has on a young person.
“Businesses in Haverhill have been very supportive of the campaign and I am thrilled with what it has achieved. I love working with young people and helping make a difference.”
