Arrest made after Haverhill house fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and making threats to kill after a house fire in Haverhill last night (Monday).

Police were called to a property in The Keep just after 6.30pm to reports that a man was behaving in a threatening manner.

Officers attended the address and then at around 7.25pm requested assistance from the Fire Service, who were asked to extinguish a blaze which had been started at the property.

A 38-year-old man from Haverhill was subsequently arrested on suspicion of arson, threats to kill, affray and assault.

He is currently in custody at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and being questioned by officers.
