A Haverhill born businessman is making it his mission to warn women about the symptoms of breast cancer following the death of his sister from the disease.
John Wombwell, who was brought up on the Clements Estate and attended Castle Manor School, has set up a website to try and prevent others suffering the fate of sister Carole Anne at the age of 52 in 2014.
“One of the most distressing parts of Carole’s story is that if she had known what to look for she might have been able to recognize the symptoms earlier and she might have found treatment sooner,” said the 58-year-old.
John is the owner of Daokrajai Lanna Fine Teas and is putting 30 per cent from the sale of handmade tea caddys to cancer charities. He is also looking for crowdfunding of £5,000 for his Overcome Breast Cancer Project. Visit www.overcomebreastcancer.com.
