Balsham resident wins two gardening awards

Balsham resident Harold Gawthrop’s horticultural acumen has seen him win two titles at South Cambridgeshire District Council’s 34th Best Kept Garden competition.

The awards are open to all council tenants and leaseholders and Mr Gawthrop, who lives in Cambridge Road, won Best Vegetable Garden and Best Greenhouse (flowers).

The judging panel visited nominated gardens earlier this year to choose the pick of the bunch.

The winners were announced at a special awards ceremony at Scotsdales Garden Centre, Great Shelford on Friday (15).Scotsdales are long-standing sponsors of the competition.
