Ben from Wixhoe completes his pentathlon for Sports Relief

A keen young sportsman has completed a phsyical challenge that would have daunted many and raised £316 for Sport Relief in the process.

Ben Frere,10, from Wixhoe, ran, cycled, swam and played tennis and squash before cycling home as part of his efforts to raise money for needy children.

Ben ran two miles and then cycled a further five miles before playing tennis, squash and swimming at Haverhill Leisure Centre.

The centre set a lane at the pool apart for him and he swam a mile - 64 lengths.

Mum Lee swam with him but he soon overtook her.

He played tennis with his family for an hour before his swim and then played squash with his dad afterwards.

And to complete the day Ben, who goes to Clare Primary School, went on to cycle three and a half miles home.

Lee said: “We’re very proud as he did very well. His determination was very impressive.

“He was exhausted on the Sunday so became good friends with the sofa.”

Ben’s next c hallenge is to walk up Snowdon with his dad.
