Haverhill Cycling Club (HCC) had a best ever turn out for its annual charity sportive on Sunday, and raised £3.000 for My Blue Heart.

A total of 181 cyclists rode 25, 60 or 100 miles and enjoyed a barbecue afterwards at Aerocycles.

HCC chairman, Rob Elliot, said: “Once again HCC has put on a great days riding for the benefit of club members and the general public and we enjoyed supporting a local charity.”

He also thanked everyone who supported the event, including Haverhill Town Council, David Anderson Roofing, Wicked Cake Company, the Old Red Lion, Horseheath and every individual that too part and donated to My Blue Heart.

The youngest participant was just seven (two of them, who completed the 25 mile course) and the eldest was 69. The barbecue was so well attended that the food ran out and more had to be purchased.
