A bike ride from Haverhill to Newmarket is just the first leg of a long fundraising journey.

Maddie Bass from the Screwfix stores in Haverhill recently participated in ‘Tour de Screwfix’, a mammoth 5,500 mile national cycle relay, to raise money for The Screwfix Foundation.

Maddie rode the Haverhill to Newmarket leg of the challenge, covering 16.1 miles.

He said: “I really enjoyed taking part in Tour de Screwfix, it was a tough ride but for a fantastic cause.

“It’s great that so many Screwfix employees are taking part, hopefully together we can raise a lot of money, I can’t wait to see the total.”

The Screwfix Foundation works with two national charity partners, Barnardo’s children’s charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as lending a welcome helping hand to smaller, local registered charities, which are carrying out projects which involve fixing, maintaining or repairing buildings or facilities for those in need.

Andrew Livingston, CEO of Screwfix, said: “We are extremely proud of all the staff at all of our 400 stores throughout the UK who are participating in this incredible challenge.”
