Blaze in Little Thurlow

Firefighters were called to a blaze involving 15 acres of standing crop earlier today (Sunday, August 23).

Crews from Wickhambrook, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, Burwell and the water carrier from Newmarket were called to land off Broad Road, Little Thurlow, just before 2pm.

Firefighters were tackling the blaze using hosereels and beaters.

The farmer also assisted by ploughing a fire break.

The fire was brought under control quickly by at 2.50pm.
