Braintree District Council’s Mi Community project is set to run for another year.
The community funding project launched in 2011, with a £500,000 fund has been extended for a further year with £100,000 set aside in the 2015/16 budget.
The funding has so far supported 29 community projects across the district, with grants ranging from £1,500 to £25,000.
Councillor Gabrielle Spray, chair of the Mi Community Working Group, said: “The aim of Mi Community is to inspire local people to identify the issues that affect their area and then enable them, with financial investment and professional support, to turn their ideas into reality, and over the last few years we have seen some fantastic examples of where this funding has made a real difference to community life.”
