Police are appealing for witnesses after a 37-year-old man was injured in a suspected knife attack.

The assault took place at about 6.20pm on Monday (Sept 28) just past Coupals Close, in Chalkstone Way, Haverhill.

Following a dispute at a property in Pipers Close, the victim cycled down an alleyway leading to Chalkstone Way, pursued on foot by the offender.

The victim then collided with two children walking with their mother, before coming off his bike.

One of the children was on foot and the other in a buggy and both sustained minor injuries as a result.

The victim and suspect then ran down Chalkstone Way before bringing a passing car to a stop as they fought with each other.

The suspect fled and police were called. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for superficial cuts to the head, believed to have been caused by a small knife.

Anyone who saw the incident, or has any information, should contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 quoting HH/15/2480, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
