Carnival time for Wickhambrook
Wickhambrook is preparing for its carnival on July 9, having chosen its Carnival Princess.
Megan Warnock, nine, from Wickhambrook, and her two attendants Noah Gearing,six, and Elsa Tyzak,seven, were chosen at a family disco last month and Megan was crowned by last year’s Carnival Princess Emily Swift.
On Carnival Day, Megan and her two attendants will ride in an open top car to lead a walking procession, along with the 4th Mid Suffolk Boys Brigade Marching Band, fire engine, classic cars and Harley Davidson motorbikes.
The procession will leave from Wickhambrook Primary School at noon to go along Bunters Road and turn right into Boyden End Lane, down past the Greyhound Pub and turn right up Cemetery Hill and back to the Recreation Ground.
There there will be there will be numerous attractions and stalls, including dog show, car and bike show, fun fair, giant slide, bouncy castle, Punch and Judy Show, falconry display, children’s sports, barbecue and beer tent.
There are also 23 stalls booked for the day.
The village horticultural society’s annual flower show is also held that day and its WI provides teas while a resident near the recreation ground does cream teas in their garden.
The day will be rounded off with live music until 7.30pm.
