Support group for business women expands its service for the Haverhill area
A business support group for women in the Haverhill area has proved so popular since it began earlier this year that it is to increase its number of regular meetings.
Pioneer Chicks was launched by Mel Fielden last June, initially as a blog to support women in business.
It then evolved and in January Mel held her first â Local Meet Sessionâ at the White Horse in Withersfield, a monthly gathering for no more than ten women looking to make their way in the world of business.
â Almost immediatelyâ , said Mel, who lives in Haverhill, it became clear that a second monthly group was required, and that too has been meeting at the White Horse.
Now though, due to demand, Mel plans to up the ante and add a third monthly meeting, as she explained: â Iâ m hoping to introduce a third group, which is more mums friendly and Iâ ve been in cahoots with Simmoâ s Playzone so they can take their little ones along as well.â
Pioneer Chicks is suitable for women who are starting their own business or developing an existing business further, for mums wanting to start a business or with an already established business, for women working their way up the career ladder or for someone starting out with some new fitness goals or other personal goals.
At each Local Meet Session the participants choose two key subjects which are discussed, said Mel in a â very informal, friendly, small and unintimidatingâ environment, something that is central to its success.
The women that attend the meetings have a variety of backgrounds and needs, added Mel, from complete newcomers to others who are established in business.
There are some common themes to the main areas of business advice that women attending the sessions seek, explained Mel: â It tends to be quite often marketing related and organisation related, so we have topics such as how to manage your week more effectively and effective networking strategies.
â A lot of it is to do with the organisation and marketing side of things.â
The next sessions at the White Horse are on June 14 and June 19, each from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
