Christmas is a wrap and 2016 looks exciting for Haverhill craft business

With Christmas all wrapped up for another year, husband and wife team Simon and January Baxendale are looking forward to 2016.

Their Haverhill-based manufacturing company, Lynvale, which produces and sells technical adhesive tapes and craft products frequently used for card making and papercraft, is especially busy in the run up to Christmas.

But with New Year just round the corner, the couple, who live in Hawkedon, are planning an innovative start to 2016.

As well as launching two new products - a fire proofing foam tape and a sound proofing glue compound to be spread over plaster boards prior to installation - they will be promoting the water sealing properties of their acrylic backed pvc foam tape which they say could provide protection from flooding.

January said: “This particular tape has been proven and trusted for over 25 years as a waterseal, however, in light of the awful flooding experienced in the UK, we expect it to play an important role in the future of flood protection.

“Obviously not as a standalone product but as part of flood barrier/defence system that could be mass produced or even as part of a custom made kit that can be installed by local construction companies or keen DIYers.

She added: “I can’t imagine the devastation these families have experienced, particularly at this time of year.

“I’m a firm believer in taking control of your own situation and even if there are improvements made to the infrastructure I personally would take every step I could to ensure my home wouldn’t be destroyed by flooding again.

“I strongly believe that our PVC foam tape will play a big role in preventing this happening again.”

Lynvale was started in 2007 and has a current turnover of £1,900,000, with further future growth predicted.
