A new location has been announced for the Clements Post Office in Haverhill when the existing premises shuts its doors in September.

The Post Office has agreed to re-locate to Londis, 1-2 Gloucester Road, Haverhill, CB9 8JN, where it will open as a modern open-plan, local-style branch with extended opening hours on Thursday, September 10, at 1pm.

The new location is 350 metres from the current Clements Post Office, which is within a pharmacy at Norton Road, Haverhill, CB9 8LU.

The current branch will close at 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 9. The public can still use the High Street branch as normal.

There will be two open-plan tills at the shop counter instead of from separate screened counters. Services will be provided throughout the convenience store’s opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 6am - 9pm; Sunday: 7am – 8pm.

Will Russell, Post Office Regional Manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Haverhill.

“We are confident this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The new branch will offer an extra 65 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service every week, including all day Sunday and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.

The branch will also open significantly earlier and close much later every day. It will also mark an end to lunchtime closing.
