ACHIEVING AN AMBITION AND CHILLING OUT

An intrepid accounts manager with a passion for scuba diving fulfilled an ambition to swim with the fishes when she spent six months on a marine conservation project in Fiji.

Cheryl Wise, 47, from Hildersham, shed over 20kg to conduct work with Coral Cay Conservation Expeditions on Castaway Island.

While on the island, she spent her time learning the names of 106 species of fish, 44 hard corals, 24 algae and 62 sponges, soft corals and molluscs.

VILLAGES WIN BATTLE FOR A BOBBY

A group of villages got a new beat bobby after nine months without one.

PC Martin Addison-Atkinson started his new role as community beat officer for the Linton area during the week.

He had been transferred from Fulbourn and was already familiar with the Linton area having worked from the village police station covering the beat.

More than 500 villagers had signed a petition shortly before Christmas calling for a replacement after the previous officer left the post.
