NAPATHY

At the tender age of eight months, Kiera Spear received poll cards allowing her to vote in both the local and the general elections.

Mum, Glenda Spear, said it was funny when the cards popped through the letterbox of their home in Cambridge Way, Haverhill.

She said: “The local election ones came through and we just laughed it off, I thought I must have made a mistake somewhere along the line. Then the general election ones came through.”

Unknown to Glenda at the time, she had incorrectly filled in the electoral form.

CAMPAIGNERS LAUNCH 40MPH PETITION

A petition to extend the 40mph zone on the A1307 at Linton was launched in a bid to improve safety.

It proposed extending the zone from Linton Village College to Bartlow Road crossroads and asked for a full investigation into what could be done to improve safety at the Bartlow junction.

But Cambridgeshire County Council said a blanket 40mph limit could increase problems as drivers changed their speeds suddenly to stay within the limit.
