Echo business: Magpie to the rescue in Hadstock

Insolvancy administrator Karen Delamain has turned to a new life and launched a business rescuing treasures and hand painted furniure.

Karen of Hadstock is also offering space on her website, Rural Magpie, to people who want a platform for selling crafts.

“I was the insolvancy adminstrator who was made redundant herself,” Karen said.

“I am so happy to have moved here and given up the commute.

“My business offers an eclectic mix of preloved modern and vintage finds from ceramics and glassware to handpainted/restored furniture and jewellery.

“I really am a rural magpie.

“I love decorating and transforming our home. On my travels I am always on the lookout for sparkly, crafty or just pretty stuff.”

She and her partner James split their time between Hadstock and Cumbria.

Karen also wanted to invite local crafters to be showcased on her website as setting up a site as an individual can be very expensive for a part-time worker.

“Its free for people to come on the site and I will just take a 10 per cent commssion,” Karen added.

“I am hoping people will join and then tell their friends on social networking sites.”
