Popular running events are returning to Haverhill for the third year, this time boasting a first marathon for the town.

The Haverhill Festival of Running on Sunday April 10 will include the Haver10 (10k) and HaverHalf (half marathon), plus the 2015 addition of the HaverSports Fun Run, and Haverhill’s first marathon.

The races will all have staggered start times to avoid congestion, and a race licence is being applied for from UK Athletics.

The runs will all raise money for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The new marathon route will be two different laps, going through rural Suffolk and South Cambridgeshire, travelling through Withersfield, Thurlow, Great Bradley, and more.

In addition, Haver10 will have a new route for 2016 as it builds on the popularity that saw over 200 runners sign up to compete in 2015.

Race director Jack Tappin said: “It’s been great this year to build on the events I established in 2014, and to see them grow and the enthusiasm for athletics in Haverhill continue.

“Hopefully that will carry on into 2016 and we’ll see hundreds of people in Haverhill on Sunday, April 10 to celebrate in the Haverhill Festival of Running, with races to suit all ages and abilities.”

If you sign up before December 31 it’ll be just £5 for Haver10, £12 for HaverHalf, £15 for the marathon and £3 for the fun run, which is open to all ages.
