Flying the flag for Commonwealth Day in Haverhill

The flag flying day was held in Haverhill this week to mark Commonwealth Day.

The Commonwealth flag was raised by the Mayor of Haverhill Cllr David Roach at a cermeony in the Market Square attended by several local councillors and the Rev Canon Graham Owen.

Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday in March, with the flag raised at precisely 10am. It is a celebration of the 52 countries which make up the Commonwealth.

As part of the flag raising ceremony, Cllr David Roach also read the Commonwealth affirmation declaring support for the shared values of unity, understanding and tolerance.
