Haverhill Breastfeeding Friends mark Global Big Latch On at East Town Park




Haverhill Breastfeeding Friends group met at East Town Park on Friday to mark a global event during World Breastfeeding Week.

The Big Latch On saw families, healthcare professionals and volunteers across 120 countries gather to celebrate breastfeeding and the role the community, family, friends, volunteers, employers and policy makers play.

Fifteen mothers and 19 children, ranging in age from a few weeks to a few years, met at 10.30am to nurse or offer support.

Virginia Sullivan, chairman of Haverhill Breastfeeding Friends, said: “These events provide the opportunity for breastfeeding women to get together and identify opportunities for on-going support.”

Haverhill Breastfeeding Friends is free to attend and offers access to licensed breastfeeding counsellors.
