Haverhill Silver Band and Haverhill Youth and Community Band have thanked people for their generosity over the Christmas period.

The two bands carried out four sessions of carol playing in Sainsbury’s foyer and, with the proceeds shared, were able to give £360 to the store’s chosen charity, St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The senior band played carols in the High Street on Christmas Eve and a further £386 was raised. It will, with the band’s portion of the Sainsbury’s collection, go towards their expenses.

Richard Pannell, from the bands, thanked everyone for their support.

Both bands are in concert at Haverhill Arts Centre on Sunday, February 15 at 7.30pm. Tickets £6/£4 (£16 family). Call 01440 714140.
