After five successful years The Accumulator Challenge, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, is back - and Haverhill firms are joining in.

This year the challenge’s new sponsor, chartered accountants and chartered tax advisers, Jacobs Allen, also hopes businesses will match the impressive totals raised in previous years.

The three-month challenge kicks off this month, and organisers want businesses to get involved in what could be the biggest battle yet.

Already, Haverhill organisations including Sanofi, HMP Highpoint, Saffron Insurance, CXG, Samuel Ward Academy and Abbeycroft Leisure have agreed to take part – but the Hospice hopes more will join them.

Since the first Accumulator Challenge in 2010 the hard-working and innovative firms taking part have raised more than £230,000 for the Hospice.

At the start of the three-month annual challenge each business is handed £50 by the sponsors. They are then charged with turning it into as much money for the Hospice as possible.

Over the years creative money-making antics have included wine tasting evenings, mechanical pig racing challenges and go-karting, while more traditional fundraisers - such as cake and book sales - have also proved very successful.
